5 year drupal.org anniversary

Well my account turned 5 years old a few weeks ago. I can't even remember why I registered for an account, at that point I was just hacking theme's haha

Anyways, its amazing how far Drupal has gotten.. web development in general. I wonder what will be down 5 years from now

Zend Framework vs Drupal

I have been looking for years for a true comparison of these two technologies, but every article I read was written by someone who clearly had real experience in only one of the technologies. I took it upon myself to put down my Drupal, and figure it out myself.. here is what I've learned.

I don't believe in wasting your time or following general writing tactics, so here it is: Drupal is better, for everything. Literally.

Drupal Deployment Strategies / Proper Workflow

From the aruba.com project, but applicable to most situations:

Acquia Hosting is Pretty Sweet

We started with RimuHosting, and an off site system administrator. We didn\'t have a load balancer, but we did have a \'backup\' server.. which was basically just a second server that we would switch over to through DNS if the first one went down. Deployment, even to our dev site, was only done through manual GIT pulls and we weren\'t even running Varnish or any other front side caching. Lets just say this sucked.

Drupal + Adjuggler Integration

Why choose Adjuggler? Well its cheap... and.. yeah that's about it. Their website is developed entirely in flash, and can be fairly buggy at times. Their support is absolutely terrible, but its very inexpensive compared to the other ad services. All that aside, how do you get it working with Drupal?

The code I inherited essentially hardcoded everything, and unfortunately.. hardcoded it incorrectly. The variables sent to adjuggler can be fairly confusing, so heres a break down that hopefully will help someone someday.. since the documentation is near impossible to find online.

SEO

What is SEO? By definition SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which to quote the dictionary means: "the use of various techniques to improve a web site's ranking in the search engines and thus attract more visitors", but what exactly does that mean?

SEO is not a single switch, and there is no silver bullet to improve your website's rankings. There are however many things you can do to your website that can at least help.
